Poets Against War continues the tradition of socially engaged poetry by creating venues for poetry as a voice against war, tyranny and oppression.

Because this war is based on a lie. Because the US President is a liar. Because fathers and mothers don't want their children to die a heroic death. Because the Americans tortured in Iraq are tortured by the one who sent them. Because being proud of the left leg and a few fingers of your son in a coffin killed in combat doesn't make sense. Because there are still dead soldiers in Vietnam waiting in vain for peace and affection. Because people are still being killed today in Vietnam by unexploded ordinance. Because the film is on repeat but the title this time is Iraq. Because of the 2800+ soldiers killed in Iraq. Because we cry an ocean but have no ark. Because there won't be enough doctors or money to treat all the soldiers with trauma's. Because some soldiers will become drug addicts, thieves, murderers because they were told to kill. Because of this war, many of tomorrows veterans will one day commit suicide. Because now you can send George Bush an email because he will "consider any proposal that would help the U.S. to victory in Iraq." Because the soldiers in Iraq realise that their president is now asking anybody about what he must do, while their comrades get slaughtered. Because the flag on a coffin doesn't hide its contents. Because Americans do not want a second Vietnam. Because Americans do not believe in this president. Because all what remains is a big hole in the ground to be filled with the dead in the name of lies. Because Americans want to be proud again of their country. Because America is not George W. Bush.
Accuracy
How can a villager prevent soldiers from firing rockets from his street,
becoming the target? The soldiers take cover beside their houses.
And even if the villagers flee, the other side frequently miss their targets with pinpoint accuracy.
