In the no hills of Detroit (for Randy)

Somewhere in the no hills
of Detroit
in a military burial
from a war he never saw
lies the father
of a dead son

Under the February snow
the surface crackles
from the rain
keeping out
tracks of loved ones
who dare to stay home
and weep
with a six pack
